Basically, the ISA project was a collaboration between BCD Pinpoint and Rain Creative Lab.  Intially, BCD made the campaign design for ISA's upcoming events.  Then, we were asked to use BCD's creative concept and design but were given the freedom to use our own strategy in developing the site.

Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA) is a non-government agency that promotes responsible public governance.  They provide various frameworks, pathways and programs to help local government provide effective public services and systems.  ISA wanted us to redesign the site to strengthen the company's image and prepar it for upcoming events and campaigns.

Key Point challenges:

  • The project's main challenge was to organize content and  to build a strong fundamental structure for the design.
  • The site must be visually engaging and and not too rigid and corporate. Thus, the fluidity of the design in relation to content was very important.
  • The site must be simple but not visually bland.
  • The site should  also easily accessible to the general public.

Client Brief

ISA provided Rain full creative authority on the visual approach but  emphaszed that ISA's website must  the values and vision of the company, among which are the following:

  • The ideals of a Filipino
  • The value of accessibility and availability of information
  • The importance of engaging people to freely participate and contribute

Visual translation was the most fundamental challenge of the ISA website.  But we solved this by taking our inspiration from magazines.  We took a magazine's structure, typographical diversity and style, converted it into a web-usable layout and plugged in some visual imagery. Keeping to the "Filipino ideal" theme, we pulled in photos of various location shots of the Philippines, treated the photos to match the whole visual puzzle and re-applied them into the layout.  With a strong foundation, it was easy to hold everything together despite the various images.  We then integrated Flash into the background so that the background would respond to the position of the mouse of the user.  This was supposed to create an interesting experience and visual interaction to the user.  We added this feature to extend the potential of the design as well as integrated both HTML based website and Flash animation.  We maximized both technologies and seamlessly integrated them together.

It was received well by the general public, and we are proud of its result.  Using a strong fundamental layout, visually strategic items, interactive materials andsolid content, we successfully translated our client's vision into a visual reality.
