Anna Roussos is a professional photographer based in Greece. Anna asked Rain to design her portfolio and  to showcase her works. This project was particularly about  making Anna's work stand out.   Fortunately, Anna was clear with what she wanted and gave us clear specifications for the project.

Key Point challenges:

  • Designing layout that supports the photos, making them stand out and work well with the layout.
  • Making site easy to navigate
  • Making sure that navigation must not get in the way of the viewing estate of the site and must maximize the viewing potential of photos
  • Integrate CMS so Anna can easily update the site and add new work collections

Client Brief

Anna required that the site must:

  • Showcase her works in various segments of expertise.
  • Highlight her photos and make the site easy to navigate.
  • Enable Anna to  be able to control the content of the site, i.e., add, sort and organize photos for her collection.
  • Be in Flash.
 

Anna's website posed various challenges in relation to multiple aspects of design.  First, we needed to address the most important issue: usability.  The site must be easily navigable, but the photos also need to have their maximum viewing exposure.  These were the two greatest challenges of the project, but as one can tell just by viewing Anna's website, we were able to hurdle these challenges.   The design that we created not only supported the content, it also made it easy for Anna to organize her photos.   

Throughout the process of constructing the design, we made sure that we were open to many possibilities and changes, and so the site was basically a product of design evolution.  To attain a higher quality output, we collaborated directly with Anna in every step of the way.

To enable Anna to organize her photos, we integrated and customize our proprietary CMS to serve data to Flash.  It was a seamless integration as we can customized the needs of Anna to fit into the system.

This project mainly shows that Rain can work well for professional individuals who want to create a unique experience for their online audience.
